I Hate Sports

I tried to leave work at 6:15pm today. 25 minutes later I managed to get back from a few blocks away and get back to work. The traffic was so bad I could not face the prospect of the commute across the bridge.

Apparently there’s some kind of football game or something and everyone had to go. In their cars. Separately.

I truly hate sporting events.

I am really looking forward to returning this car to my folks and getting back on public transit. If I had the parking permit for my neighborhood, I’d just leave it at home during the day, but I don’t so I drive. Under the best circumstances driving a car takes 15 or 20 minutes less, which seems like a big deal in a 55 minute commute, but if those 55 minutes are generally calm and involving reading or playing games on my PDA and the ones in the car are incredibly stressful and irritating, which would you prefer?

  1. Thanks, Matt. Just my two cents. That guy’s attitude was really representative of how sports fans feel. They are as intolerant as the most xenophobic, in-bred, bible-thumpin’ hillbilly from the darkest depths of Southern Appalachia. And dumb to boot. 🙂
    Corry Spoonpants,
Are you for or against sports? I couldn’t tell from your drunken meandering. And I don’t know what you mean by real football. Is it really so important to distinguish between being merely ignorant and plain stupid? All flavors of football are boring and a waste of time.
    P.S. I hope England wins.

  2. Hi,
I’m back again, after spending a weekend watching my nephew play little league. Poor kid! I hope he can get some skills quick so he doesn’t end up being picked on like I was as a kid. I felt bad for him, cuz he’s so little (age 7) and not into baseball at all. He just stands there in the outfield, daydreaming, like I used to. Then he gets bonked on the head by a ball! At least he didn’t cry. Like a girl.
And my brother – that bastard! He keeps yelling at the kid, trying to humiliate him. And to think that the big jerk prevented me from learning the basics of sports when I was a kid. Now I have to sneak around, pretending I know what this soccer deal is, or tennis. Fact is, I just cant work up an interest in any of it.
Strange, tho, how being out of touch with sports has made me the kind of person who questions all kinds of rules anmd authorities – like I dont follow any religion and I detest Prez Bush and his gang of thieves.

  3. I HATE F—– SPORTS…… Married a guy who gave up visitation of his daughter, because the day was Sunday, can’t miss Sunday F—-‘n Sunday football. Then decided that little league was more important then marriage…. Now 7 yrs later, I am with my junior high sweet heart, and he does nothing but criticize my son, because he is 8 years old and just learned to skate last year, BUT HE IS NOTHING LIKE I WAS AT THAT AGE. He should be able to do THIS AND THAT by his age. Too be honest, I have never seen HIM on skates,(in 16 years of knowing him) and he thinks he has any right to criticize my son…….. but shit……….

  4. No one has the right to criticize a kid because of his skills. We’re all good at different things and if it’s not apparent what those things are, oh well, we’ll just have to be patient and wait and see.
I think that the type of guy who criticizes children is basing it on his own imagination. It’s very likely that he sucked at sports, was clumsy, a stutterer, etc –but so what? Be a man and face up to it. Don’t hide behind some imagined former greatness and redirect your self-loathing at some defenseless child. God, I hate sports fans.

  5. WOW!
I, until I found this place, used to think that I was the only person on this planet that absolutely despised the sport mentality that exists in our society. The entire western culture is so polluted by this mentality that it has, like a metastatic cancer, spread to every aspect of our lives. In language, literature, entertainment, religion, imagery, etc, etc, etc. EVERYTHING! It makes me ill. You cannot escape it. If you cannot talk sports, you are treated as if you are utterly worthless. I have several aquaintances that, if I say I do not know about the “big game”, will switch me off, and exclude me from notice. In other words, I DO NOT EXIST. I have participated in sports in school, but was never “any good”. SO, I was not accepted by most crowds. I was subject to abuse (physical as well as mental), from players and coaches, in Jr. High & High school. And, if I reported it, I was a “PUSSY” or a “QUEER” (verbatim from the Principal!) and made fun of! I am 49 and a big man (I was a tall skinny kid til college) and still suffer from the abuse and social unacceptance from this abuse and being a social outcast. I you are not a sports “hero” or can talk sports, forget being socially worthwhile! But, they are all sheep or lemmings. I never subjected my kids, especially my son, to sports. But they have all developed interest in sports so they could “fit in” and have friends. I really do not have what I would call friends, because I absolutely refuse to talk sports. So I am an outcast, socially. I even see sports mentioned in churches during what is supposed to be worship!
You turn on readio or television, you open a paper or magazine and what do you get hit with? SPORTS! ARRRGH!
You drive, and what do you see on other cars, billboards, buildings, etc? SPORTS!!! I especially despise so-called soccer-moms. What the hell started that whole thing. I know it is a yuppie badge of honor. But how could any self-respecting female wear that badge? Because all I see is some…(I am a gentleman so I will leave this to your imagination).
Is there ANYPLACE you can escape from sports? Is there any group to socialise with that EXCLUDES sports?
Phew! I feel much better now!
Thank you kind folks for letting me rant!
    Have a great, sports-free day!

  7. I hate sports too. Sports stars arent heroes they are overpaid whiners. They get paid bazillion dollers to play and have fun, then bitch whine and moan over the slightest injurt or a twist of the ankle. Do yo uknow what happens to a person who works a REAL job who twists his ankle. They dont get a paid leave from work. Chances are their bare-minimum wage job will NOT let them miss a day of work. Working people have things like bills, and food to buy, car payment, mortgage, rent, etc. Sports stars have cocaine habits, 12 million cars. 40 houses in florida that they never visit. If i were president i could fix our bidget in one day by taking all those billions wasted on the lemmingish sports and putting it towards the REAL HEROES AND WARRIORS. The Working Class. Of course i would probably be assassinated the same day for doing so. But working peopel are the real heroes. We put up with more crap in a day than your average steroid freak jock will see in a lifetime. And we dont get paid very much to do it. It busts my balls to see them whining and crying that “IM ONLY making a MILLION dollars a year” A Million dollars and youre WHINING about it to play something you LIKE. I WORK A JOB I ABSOLUTELY HATE (unloading trucks at walmart for 6 30 an hour) I ONLY MADE 13 thousand last year and that was before taxes raped me. that IS below poverty. I cant afford to start a family because i neither have time nor money. BAN
SPORTS AND FIX OUR ECONOMY WITH THE WASTED CASH!!!!

  8. I generally agree with the tone of the board. Even so, sports interest in and of itself isn’t really the issue. People into sports have every right to pursue their interest, just like some of us “geeks” have a right to pursue science fiction, astronomy, poetry, computers, and so forth.
The REAL problem is that so much of society and especially the youth culture takes a very arrogant attitude toward those who aren’t interested in sports or cut out for them. When you have a group of people looked down upon because they don’t follow what the “in” crowd does, is it any wonder these “in” crowd types are hated?
If any of you out there are looking for a place where sports fanaticism is, if not non-existent, then at least noticably less prevalent, then I’d look to either
    (a)local special interest clubs or
(b)URBAN (as opposed to suburban or exurban) middle class neighborhoods built before world war two. I’ve noticed these areas tend to attract and retain a large portion of people who get into quiz bowls more than super bowls (in a manner of speaking).
So sports non-fans..don’t despair. There IS a place for you in this world, even if it’s hard to see through the corporate-driven/all-american/commercial-entertainment fog.

Why do sports fans think that everyone wants to hear them blather on and on and on about sports? why don’t they realize that when we smile and nod that we’re just being polite? Why don’t they realize that we really think they’re idiots and are just tolerating them? Sports fans, if you’re listening, PLEASE get a clue and realise that most of us HATE SPORTS and really don’t care to hear your opinion. Thank you.

  11. Thanks for making me feel ‘Normal’. I hate watching sports. Its one thing to be playing sports for fun… but watching a bunch of losers throwing a ball around for hours is pathetic.I hate it when they call them heroes! Did they help anyone in danger? NO. I hate it when they treat me like an outcast because I am not into sports. I am interested in intellectual stuff, history, politics, science, and music. There is absolutely nothing ‘gay’ about not liking sports. In fact, it is the other way around. There is ‘fantasy’ football going on at the office. They actually spend hours researching, making charts etc. It struck me that football is an extremely ‘GAY’ sport.Watching a bunch of muscular guys in tights pouncing on top of each other, touching their butts(they actually call it ‘BUBBLE’, as in so and so has a good bubble …), and then they shower together in the locker.I think if you are really into football, there is something really gay about you. Fuck the NFL..

  12. Yes, Ram, there are homoerotic undertones in football culture. There is no
doubt about that. I fully sympathize with you, but society will always fight
you on this issue. It is a losing battle. These men are perceived more
masculine than other men because society wants to see them as hypermasculine.
My advice to you: Don’t pretend to like things you like to fit in and attempt
to find like-minded people. In other words, be strong. You will feel better for
    it in the long run.

  13. Sports are pretty boring, I agree. I never found them important enough to worry about when I was little and was outraged when little creeps in gym had the nerve to get mad at me when I didn’t do something well. Well, it was hard and boring! I was foolish enough to give it a more solid try in high school, but I got yelled at all the time so never rejoined the soccer team (to everyone’s inexplicable surprise) and then when I did moderately well in track, all the other girls quit and no more girls track team! way to go. But, if I had the chance to have seriously trained in martial arts, track, speed skating, figure skating or maybe gymnastics, I might have done that and liked it. Something where a real pro trains you, not a part time coach. I just couldn’t get any passion up for kickball and softball and all that jazz. too boring.

  14. Hi im a sportperson from the UK and it seems that most of the people on this site’s hatred comes not from sport but from the ‘jocks culture’ that america seems to employ. In the USA a small amount of sports people are picked at a relatively young age and then nurtured in the hope that they will become great sports people. This is profoundly different to in the UK where sport is viewed in schools as primarily something for all, where everyone has a sense of purpose and are included. This may not produce elite athletes as effectively but it includes everyone and side steps the social problems and arrogance which seem to go hand in hand with american sports where people are chosen and given inflated egos. Perhaps american sport needs to look back to the original sport which took place in british public schools and later on as an amateur’s past time where ideals such as sportsmanship, loyalty, courage, and determination were the main aims rather than the win win win ethos of the majority of sports today not only in america. I go to a public school in the UK where i study Physical Education and play hockey and rugby, this does not in anyway give me any more status in society (or school) than say a clever student who is particulary good at several aubjects. I think it is a pity that people insist that they hate something which can be fun, sociable, healthy and help to improve people’s leadership skills. Come to the UK are sports people are nice 😀

But mainly, I would merely feel indifferent to sports if every sports fan on the planet wasn’t out to shove it down my throat. It’s 100 times worse to be male, encounter another male, he starts a sports conversation and you cut him off with a polite “Sorry, I don’t follow sports.” He goes sullen! You get stigmatised from the crowd! You get labeled fag and communist and atheist and everything else! How DARE you! Hey, I have other interests – should I go around judging people to be my lesser because they don’t like my hobbies?
I rack it up as pretty much another religion. Same lack of logic, same fervent devotion, same mandatory US-vs-THEM mentality.

  18. I am a college football player and I was just writing a paper on opposing viewpoints of sports in schools. I know that proponents of sports will say that sports teach the importance of skills like discipline, dedication, hard work, and teamwork just to name a few but I didn’t know what you people had to say against it so I googled “Don’t Like Sports” to figure out what arguments people on the other side had.
What I have found here for the most part disgusts me and I pray to God that you are not Americans and if you are that you stay an overwhelming majority.
The fact is, sports aren’t simply games. They are educational tools that are just as important to human development as learning to read or write. They teach you how to be a man, they teach you how to win, they teach you how to depend on others and also to never let those same people down.
In fact, I bet I can go back in time and tell you what day you lost your testicles and still haven’t found them to this day. I bet you were in gym class in elementary school stepped up to bat and whiffed. You were then possibly ridiculed and quit like a pussy only to go home and play with your prancing ponies and Barbie dolls.
I used to think the same way about my grades, but…and I thank God for this, the things I learned in sports taught me that when I have a weakness to never quit keep working at it until I make it a strength.
Another thing that pisses me off is when you say athletes aren’t successful. Let me tell you something. You can get a 4.7 GPA by blowing all the teachers you want and you’ll find out one day that when the going gets tough you don’t have what it takes to succeed.
You’re all mad at yourselves because your whiney attitudes wouldn’t fly in sports. That’s why you pussed out. You also lack the basic competitive drive that is, for the most part inherent in all Americans (that’s why we love sports). Also, quit bitching because (like all the other times you’ve lost) you’re being horribly defeated by a sports loving majority which thankfully defends this country and the liberties you take for granted.
In closing, I’m glad you weaklings have found a support group for how sports ruined your life because a big muscle-head ran through your studio en route to an amazing super bowl victory and broke your fucking easel and all your paintbrushes.

  19. Wow. What an amazing nutshell encapsulation of why people come not to like sports.
So, if I can summarize, what you’re saying is that all the other success in the world doesn’t mean anything if you’re not good at sports?
I do hope you overcome your gender insecurity – fascinating how you equate women with weakness – and are able to build a foundation that will allow you to have any successful relationships with the opposite sex. Good luck with that should you ever have a female boss. It’s sad too how you’ve walled yourself off from being able to appreciate art; I promise that it in fact does not sap your vital testicular fluids.
You might find it useful in building professional and other relationships to acknowledge that some people achieved academic success (here defined as grades) by simply being good at it or, as you recommend, working hard.
What if when you’d done poorly academically you had been ridiculed and told you were disgusting and that you had no right to be an American? Would it have made you love classes and homework?

    http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2006-03-01-ala-carte-cable_x.htm
Cable TV is about to change the way they do business. Instead of charging a flat rate for the standard collection of channels, they will charge for individual channels –allowing the consumer to control what they watch and how much they pay. This will really make it clear that most people couldn’t care less for sports. A USA Today poll (see link above) indicates that less than 28% of respondents said they would pay to watch ESPN. If only that few people pay for sports programming and without the rest of us subsidizing it (by subscribing to standard cable) I predict sports programming will quickly dwindle. It will go from omni-present million dollar glitzy commercials to black and white reruns in a hurry! Disney, which owns ESPN, can see the dive in profits coming and is fighting against the new ala-carte system with everything they have.
So I am encouraging MY cable provider to switch to ala-carte! As soon as possible!
“An a la carte system would topple the economic equation that’s fed the cable industry. Programmers would be hit hard “because their business model for the last decade has been bundling channels,” says Paul Gallant, an analyst at Stanford Washington Research.
Consider ESPN, owned by Disney. It’s one of the most expensive channels in expanded basic: $2 to $3 a month per subscriber. Many other channels cost 25 cents or less.
Yet only about 30% of consumers regularly watch ESPN, says Vinciquerra of Fox. The cost of ESPN winds up being subsidized by the remaining 70% of viewers. His view is consistent with those of other cable operators.
Disney insists ESPN is popular with the masses; the USA TODAY poll suggests otherwise. The poll indicates just 28% of Americans would pay a fee to buy a sports programming package that included ESPN. Most — 53% — said they probably wouldn’t.
About half of Disney’s $54 billion market value flows from ESPN. So if ESPN’s value plummeted, so would Disney’s value to investors. ”
P.S. If I had stock in Disney I would sell it because half of their revenue comes from ESPN and it’s about to take a dive.

  21. I think that when people say “sports” they are tending to think of team sports that often have spectators. I can say that I cannot stand to do anything that is a spectator sport. I don’t play soccer, football, baseball, basketball, etc.
However, I hike & backpack, I’m a whitewater kayaker, I rockclimb, and I am a cyclist. You cannot deny that all of these things are sports…but they’re not the win/lose kind (cycling CAN be about racing, and there are competitive climbers, but the people who do that make up a small percentage).
People at work might talk about the game Monday morning, but the stories that I have are more interesting…like how I bushwhacked 1.5 miles alongside a river in the pouring rain, decided not to cross the raging torrent and instead had to bivy so I wouldn’t become hypothermic.

  22. I agree. I think people dislike the brainless addiction to spectator sports not sports itself. I don’t have anything against physical fitness. I like to ski or jog or work out in the gym but I don’t understand the attraction people have to spectator sports. Why do they want to watch other people play? If they like it why don’t they play themselves? The other thing I don’t like about the spectator sports crowd is the way they talk about “the game”. The “conversation” has no basis in logic and goes something like this:
    “I’m the man!”
    “No! I’m the man!”
    “No, I’m the man!”
    “No. I’m the man!”
    “I’m the man!”
    “No! I’m the man!”
    “I’m the man!”
    “No! I’m the man!”
    “I’m the man!”
“No, you can’t be the man!”
    “No! I’m the man!”
    “I’m the man!”
    “No! I’m the man!”
    “I’m the man!”
    “No! I’m the man!”
And ultimately the winner of this verbal contest is whoever lasts longest and can chirp louder. I’ve heard more inspired arguments from six year olds.

  23. There’s an interesting connection between the development of competing nation states, the necessity for war in this context, and the necessity for a personality type that can kill on command: the male gender role (the part of masculinity that is cultural, not biological). This is also the reason for homophobia – the state attempts to harness the homosexual desires universal in men, and redirect them to a type of aggressive bonding that expresses itself through violence. In return, males get a privileged position in society. In the end, those who come through this process are alienated from men and women. Their deformed, violent sexuality makes objects of women and competitors of men. To love men openly would be to mess with a delicate psychological conditioning of a social role that equips the nation with soldiers. Gayness really is a threat to national security. Anyone can learn to express a love and desire that is blind to gender. Because humans are more formed by their experience than any other animal, personality characteristics that feel innate are often cultural. So some men, who early in life reject aggressive, competitive, warlike characteristics find themselves in a community of gendered individuals sexually formed to compliment each other in this sadomasochistic heterosexuality. This affects their erotic perception of these individuals and leads to “deviant” sexualities (usually with each other). And the nation reserves its most poisoned vitriol for them. Sport is an enormous national effort to militarize men for conquest or defense. With increasing affluence and less need to draw on the general population for cannon fodder, some liberalization of sexual rules can be tolerated (although only in the guise of a nonthreatening, nonspreading ethnic minority), especially if money can be made from them in a new *fabulous* gay market niche. Finally, to see men openly expressing what every man deep down craves (belonging, love, and friendship with other men) but is taught to ridicule with the threat of violence, brings out the worst kind of resentment and rage toward open gays.

This seems contradictory. Are sports participants agressively bonding or are they merely competitors?
And homosexual desires are universal in men?? I think you’re suffering from that tendency that most of us have to think that everyone is just like you. But it ain’t true!

I think for myself, I make judgements for myself, and never need anyone else to tell me how to think. Do the research, crunch the numbers, figure out where the millions of people have gone with their lives; those kids who thought they were going to get a scholarship from their high school sports, and so on.
It’s not ‘your’ team. You’re not receiving any dividends from ‘your’ team, you don’t get invited onto ESPN to tell your opinion of ‘your’ team’s game. ‘Your’ team doesn’t care about you, and they don’t give a damn that you have a “Steelers” (insert team name here) bumper sticker on your vehicle.
Just because you allow yourself to have strong emotions that are directly related to ‘your’ team, or ‘your’ driver, etc. doesn’t mean that it’s good or right. Emotion should never override logic and sense. Emotion should never override your responsibility to do what is right, in your life, in your family, in your community, in your world.
Step away from the sports long enough for the fog to clear, and realize there are people around you who need your attention, your time, and your love. Be a true spouse, a true sibling, parent, neighbor, etc.

Or go to the movies. because all the jerks will be indoors glued to their TVs. Every mongoloid from coast to coast will be occupied for 3 or 4 hours! So roam free, America!

  31. You guys are all losers. Quit blaming your dislike of sports for your lack of social life. Grow a pair.
Hmmm yes i see how most sports fans have a “life” squandering their money on expensive tickets, refusing to get off the couch to even take a piss because they might miss the umpteenth review of the game they just saw.
My sister is one such puppet. She sits on her ass all day surfing the internet on football message boards (while also watching espn) and does nothing of much else. The house could be burning down around her and she wouldnt give 2 farts to the wind as long as there was football. Hell im surprised she even breathes without assistance anymore.
Its funny to see people so brainwashed they gladly bend over to worship rich people who make INSANE amounts of money for playing like children. They get exuberant healthcare while the working class has to get second and third jobs just to make the ends meet. Most working class people cannot afford even the lowest cost healthcare. Football players whine and cry about a torn hamstring or a fractured finger and they are out for months (with pay) While working people with same said injury have to return to work because they cant afford not to work.

  32. Funny, good point. And not only do they make INSANE amounts of money, but they COMPLAIN about it and always cry for more, cause certainly they are not making enough millions while all the sports fan bow down and worship the ground they walk on. And while there are people who cant even eat…. CERTAINLY we need to give our athletes more , dont we?… How absurd.
The person who called sports haters losers and just an excuse for no social life…
I have one thing to say to you..I would rather be a HERMIT then spend time with a bunch of sports idiots like you. There is MUCH more meaning in no social life at all, then there is in a social life full of sports and sports lovers. Thats the truth. YOU CAN HAVE YOUR SPORTS AND YOUR SPORTS BUDDIES, BUDDY.
PS…I have a great social life, and ummmmm….YOURE NOT PART OF IT!! 🙂 …Sorry!

  33. Well, its Super Bowl Sunday on Sunday. All the sheeple will be gathering for their worship of this big game. They will yell, scream, and spend a whole lot of energy “focusing” on this game. Then someone will win. And that does WHAT for society? It helps WHO? In 100 years who will care? In ONE year who will care… heck in 100 MINUTES who will REALLY care? Florida was just hit by massive tornadoes.. does it help anyone there? What about Katrina victims? How about our brave men and women overseas? How about all of the starving people in the world? Or better yet, your wife and child, who have been screaming for your attention? The national debt? My point is, these are things that MATTER…. your stupid super bowl doesnt matter, no matter how much you THINK it does, or no matter how much you argue. Call me a loser, call me a moron, i dont really care.. The fact of the matter is it (The Super Bowl, and sports in general) doesnt matter. Period. I agree with the poster above who thinks sports were created to distract the sheeple from issues that really matter.
I wish the super bowl, the owners of the league, and all the greedy players would just quit and go do something that matters. Pick up trash on the highway. At least you will make a difference. And if you bring your family, hey, maybe you could spend some quality time together and focus on EACH OTHER, instead of your sports heroes who dont give a rip about you.
I cant wait to NOT watch the Super Bowl tommorrow.

  34. Hey guys it’s stupid bowl Sunday!!! Yay. Walked in to my neighborhood Mexican restaurant to have one of their kick ass Margaritas as a reward for my hard weekend photographic work, and oh shit, it’s packed, I wonder why? What are they all watching? Oh yeah it’s that dreaded day that I have to force a grin and say allright, yeah!! with a drunkin crowd when the right team scores. I hope nobody turns to me to mention what a specific player is or did, whATEVER, cause I’m going to have to agree with him with a knowledgeable look in my eye and say shit yeah, exactly! Meanwhile, while the guys are sipping down piss tasting buds the girls with them are slurping down multiple kick ass frozen Margies, to put themselves out of their misery from forcing themselves to watch the CroMagnun tactics and fake enthusiasm all night. One asked me to help her to to the bathroom while her boyfreind oblivious. Everyone was shouting and I heard one shout got a fuckin $100 on da game, I aint movin. Poor girl stayed in there and didn’t come out before I left. I’ll go home and watch the discovery channel or ANYTHING ELSE!
I actually headed for the computer to Google: “any other guys hate sports?”
Results- this site, thanks for the support. Go team, go!!

  36. I just ran across this site. And also I feel that the way society handles sports is outrageous and ridiculas. From little children people are being brain washed that sports is the greatest thing for many reasons. And this continues on from generation to generation. The people are being brain washed mostly by the media! And behind the scenes of the media is the owners of the teams and anyone involved in this multi billion dollar business! YES THIS IS A BUSINESS WITH TONS OF MONEY INVOLVED. People in general and most of society are followers not leaders! That is why most of society can be easily brain washed. I WANT TO TRY TO MAKE PEOPLE SEE THE TRUE LIGHT AND PUT A PIN IN THE ASS OF THESE TEAM OWNERS! Just a note I love to play sports and have fun with them as games and what they are meant to be! NOT WHAT THE OWNERS OF TEAMS AND MEDIA AND BUSINESS HAS DONE TO IT! If anyone has any great ideas on what would be a good start I would like to hear it? (ONLY SERIOUS THOUGHTS PLEASE) I find this to be a serious problem, and I say that because I see and hear how it has entered the schools as low as elementary school. AND AGAIN THE START OF BRAIN WASHING!!!!!!!!

  37. Joe,
As long as you have sheeple, they will follow whatever is “popular”-No matter where you “start”.
You could become president and sign an executive order to ban all commercialization of sports. But then all the sheeple would find a different reason to gather and neglect their families and the things that really matter in this world.
Sorry to rain on your parade. But the masses are sheep bro, and they will always find something “popular” to flock to. If you dont beleive me turn on the television and watch. baaaa!

  38. Yea I think your right, but if we all think like that nothing would ever get done in the world. That is like taking out all the drug dealers in the city. See what happens, it wont last because someone new will start up soon. So does that mean then just let it go then? You know the new people will be right behind them. It seems everything is a losing battle. But I think you just cant sit back and let things go. And back to the issue I said. I dont think sports should be stopped or banned. Just restructured to be realistic. I am seeing honor roll kids not getting scholarships with a 95-99% average, and from the same group of kids the baseball players get the scholarship with averages of 70-80%, And this is not a sports scholarship, it is a scholarship to come to the school. THAT IS PLAIN RIDICULAS AND OUTRAGEOUS!!! If the parents could prove it they should sue in someway. But you can tell what is going on but the school denies with no explanations. You tell me what kind of message we are giving the young people growing up with these ridiculas ways?

  39. I here you Bro. But do you know what you and I are saying sounds like to 70-80 percent of the population (The sports Sheeple) ? BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH… They dont care what you and I think. Period. And frankly, I dont care anymore that they dont care what I think. Maybe you will get to that point someday too.
The fact is there are WAY more people who like the sports world status quo (including the injustices about the scholarships you speak of) than there are that could be assimilated into our way of viewing it, which is absolutely the correct way. But there is not a darn thing you or me can do about it.
Have you ever tried to speak to a herd of sheep before? They dont understand what you are saying. At some point, you just have to let them be sheep.

  40. I guess when you say it’s like talking to sheep it sounds funny. To me I take that as these people are just plain stupid, and just followers. I remember a well know doctor said it was very hard to hypnotize an intelligent person. BECAUSE HE IS NOT THE SHEEP!!!

  41. Im being a bit sarcastic-but im not implying stupidity as much as I am IGNORANCE. To me there is no other way to describe such a LARGE amount of people that follow something so meaningless and in the end means absolutely nothing. There are smart ignorant people in the world .
Ive gone to weddings where people have pulled out the tv to watch a hockey game IN THE MIDDLE OF A WEDDING… now, you tell me that is not ignorant? Those people are as selfish as selfish gets, and in my opinon ignorant because they have no knowledge whatsoever of what you are supposed to do at a wedding and that is to focus on the bride and groom. It is THEIR day…not YOURS..and definitley not the athletes. That is the HEIGHTH of ignorance. I have seen this happen on more than one occassion. This example alone is enough for me to rest my case for the use of the word “sheep”.
